So what did you get for Christmas?

Postby boombox » 03 Jan 2013, 12:56

The hols are over, time to share what music-related gifts we all got in our stockings from Santa. To be honest, I pretty much knew what I was getting as I either ordered it myself or it was on my amazon wish list, but...

Only one guitar item:
The Best of The String Cheese Incident tab book - great jam band if you don't know them, and one of the reasons I started edging towards acoustic based music.

CDs:

Dala - Best Day - latest 2012 offering from Canada's female answer to S&G
Doug Smith - Guitar Parts - absolutely love this album - and a fingerstyle 'Magnificent Seven' Theme too.
Dave Evans - Sad Pig Dance - enhanced version, including the tab (though it may be a little beyond my capabilities!!)
Rick Wakeman - Journey To The Centre of the Earth Fan Pack and t-shirt - the new version of my favourite album of all time

So what did everyone else get?

Hi, Boombox.
This year only Peter Paul and Mary will come to my library. Many years ago I recorded on video from TV the PPM 25th anniversary concert. Unfortunately the tape got broken and the DVD was removed from catalog, as far as I know. Not it can be found on Amazon and I will get it in few days.
Just finished watching The String Cheese Incident in YouTube. Never had heard about them, but they sound really nice (despite of some unpleasant comments in the videos).

You are a lucky man with Dave Evans - Sad Pig Dance. Is there any chance you can share the tab? I've tried to find it for months with no success. Or any clue to helping me to get it?

Enjoy your new music.

Lentin, I sent you a pm re Dave Evans.

As for SCI, the earlier stuff is best - very good mix of bluegrass, jazz and good old grateful dead jamband. Lots of free legal soundboards available too on bt.etree.org if you use bittorrent. They lost it a bit in the late 00s when they started working with Youth as a producer, but seem to have regained their form.

Your PM has been answered through PM.
No, I've never used bittorrent, but I'll investigate a bit.
Many thanks.
