I want to know more about my A201C

Postby Fuya » 28 Oct 2012, 00:01

Hi everyone!
I recently bought a used AVALON A201C that I had been wishing to get since I was 16 years old.... : )
I totally love its beautiful sound and its appearance! I now hope to know more about my guitar.

The serial number is A00953.
When and where was it made?? What kind of materials are used for the guitar??
Can anyone tell me about these??

Thank you so much :D

Hi Fuya

Congratulations on the beautiful new guitar. :D

The man who can tell you the exact date it was made is Jim. As you probably know, Avalon stopped building guitars earlier this year and the workers were laid off, including JIm, but he does appear here still.

In the meantime I believe your guitar was made in the Newtownards factory in Northern Ireland in 2005 or 2006. The specs would be:

Solid cedar top
Solid rosewood back and sides
Ebony Fingerboard with Mother of Pearl Inlay
One Piece Mahogany Neck
Tusq Saddle and Nut
Gold Grover Tuners with Ebony Machine Heads
Wood Bindings
Hand-Buffed Gloss Finish
Hiscox case

I hope this helps until Jim can give you confirmation of the year it was built.

John

Hi John!
Thank you for your congratulation and information : ) Those are exactly what I wanted to know!
There are few Avalon made guitars in Japan...completely no information.....

Oh I really hope they build their fabulous guitars again so that I can live my whole life with Avalon guitars XD
