Hi

Welcome to the Forum.

As I recall, the Irish made Gold series, of which the S101 is part, were given a serial that started A00, followed by a three digit number. I would expect that it is A00145.

I found this thread which talks about a S101 A100145 and gives a date of 2002. I suspect that it is a near relative of yours. (See Steve's comments). It should have really opened up by now.

I hope this helps and that you enjoy being an Avalon owner. :D

I have two Avalons, including the Jacques Stotzem Signature which was part of the Gold range and is a lovely guitar.

I'd be surprised if it was a copy. I'd guess Elderly would have spotted that too. I couldn't find it on their site, but usually if you have the link, you can usually still view the advert page. Post the url if you have it and we'll have alook until, with luck, Steve or JB (hope he's made it back on the team) can shed some light on this.

And welcome to the forum!

Hi

The wooden rosette is a healthy sign - yes that is a characteristic of the Irish Golds. The Czechs were abalone.

Apparently the Czech guitars had Serials that began with 2, e.g. 22 145. There was a space between the second digit and the third. This is apparently the Furch workshops system of numbering.

The Irish Avalon serials were stamped on the headstock,by the way, as well as the label.

Just typical though - can't make out the label at all. However, she looks pretty darned nice.
