Nylon Guitars

I just found out about Avalon, and I know they have some nylon guitars. But I just checked the website, and I'm unable to discover which guitars are nylon strings or not. Is it possible to tell me which models are nylons?

All our nylon models have a model number that ends in "J" like A32J or S25J

Unfortunate, there are no nylons in the silver collection.
I'm afraid that my budget doens't reach high enough for the A32J, for example.

You've inspired me to play my nylon again--I'd just changed the strings last week so I'm ready to go.

I have a lovely little Kimbara which is very old. A customer of mine was throwing it out so I asked could I have it-she kindly agreed--I couldnet believe my luck.

Inside the soundhole it reads "Kimbara specially made in japan for FCN-LONDON MODEL NO N-27" --A couple of years ago I spoke to someone from FCN but they could not help me with the age of this guitar---so I just wondered with you living over there---have you ever came across this model----I love it sounds great--I've got a pic of it on my web site.

All I can say about Kimbara is that they were a commonly available Japanese made brand around the 1970s-80s that offered a lot of copies of electric guitars and acoustics some of which were a bit more original. Some of my friends had Kimbara guitars, including a quite nice Les Paul copy.

In the days before the major brands offered their own budget lines and the birth of many of the mid-range brands we now know and love, Kimbara were a cut above many Japanese made guitars although I think its fair to say that today's guitars tend to have a better finish and sound.

Its probably the case that they were made in various factories over the years and were also likely sold under other names in other countries. Of course, back then, Japanese made guitars were mostly at the cheaper end of the market as it was before the days of upmarket products from the likes of Japanese makers such as Yamaha, Ibanez and Takamine.

Thanks Mike. No idea about Kimbara. Neil Stacey has a band called the Kimbara Brothers apparently because he used to play one.
