Replacing an unused pickup-battery

Postby Harry » 02 Aug 2012, 21:56

Hi!

After which period of time should a battery (for the fishman pickup) be replaced at the latest -even if the guitar was not plugged in all the time.
I want to prevent my guitar to be damaged by the acid of a "leaking" battery.

Thanks and best regards,

Harry

What sort of Fishman pick up do you have, Harry?

With the Fishman Prefix

Sorry Harry! Didn't finish the mail!

With a Fishman prefix you have a battery indicator - other Fishmans are different.

What kind do you have?

Hi John!

On the warranty certificate it is called "natural vt fishman". It does not seem to have a battery indicator led (or i was not able to find it). I think there is only a volume and a tone control knob in the soundhole, but there is no led there.

Best regards, Harry

Hi Harry

Thinking about it, there will be a big difference between disposable alkaline batteries, re-chargeables, lithium etc. Alkaline will be most prone to leak.

If it were me, I would check your batteries regularly and dispose of alkaline batteries every year or so. Take the batteries out if you are not using the pickup for a while.

Best wishes

Hi John,

i had the same idea. I use only good alkaline batteries, but at the moment i have no use for amplification. So i will take out the battery the next time i change my strings.

Thanks for your awnsers,

Harry
