Avalon Serial Numbers

Whenever anyone wanted to date an Avalon in the past, they just contacted Jim and got an almost instant reply telling them the production year (and, sometimes, month).

I wonder if anyone has given thought to posting serial number details on line? These guitars are going to be around for decades and it would be nice not to see the history lost.

Anyone out there with any thoughts?
