Dear gurus,
I love Dave Evans music (the fingerpicker Dave Evans, not the other).
One of the tunes I really enjoy is Wishtling Milkman.
I have searched it in YouTube but very few entries.
In one ot those videos you can read that the guitar is tuned CGADAD.
So, today I've tuned my A800 in such way and it does not sound too well.
Is that tunning something you use?

That's an odd one, I agree. Not one I've ever used, but then Michael Hedges & Martin Carthy both used some weird ones too. What do you mean: doesn't sound well - is it string rattle, strange overtones?

Dave Evans is famous for using/discovering CGDGAD, although he does use other tunings. It might work if you try that.
I really don't fancy CGADAD - never heard of it! It sounds like a guitar-torturing string breaker to me!
Aah! Just looked on You Tube - there are two Whistling Milkman videos. One of them is in CGDGAD:

I reckon the other one is also in that tuning - the guy has just written it up wrong in the comment!
Evans' stuff is really nice - I wish I'd heard him live back in the day. Apparently he throws pots and brews beer somewhere in Belgium these days.

With this strange tunning we are bringing down the Standard tunning by two completes tones in some cases and third string goes from G to D.
The tension is really soft. Probably, as it was 'my first time' it sounded to me really bad. I was thinking on tunning each string one full tone higher than CGADAD.

I was wondering if you are getting anywhere with the CGADAD tuning? It certainly doesn't suit my guitars - I reckon it is a mis-print!

Finally I didn't try it.
I am a bit chaotic man and I jumped to another tune.
