Well, I am not religious in any way, but I can appreciate the playing big time. Eric hits a home run again. :D

And also, I just discovered Caleb's Joy, which I missed before - very nice indeed. How I envy you guys who can write such things.

Hey Mike, John and Boom,

I just want to say thank you Mike for the post and all you fine gentleman for all your kind comments. I just saw this post for the first time tonite and I deeply apologize for missing it initially and not posting my gratitude. I have not been around much on the forum for awhile because it has been quiet and frankly I have been absorbed with putting my family back together and playing at my little beach church in St. Augustine. I so appreciate your fellowship and you guys tunin' in.

I hope my reply finds you all well and blessed in this new year.

Good to see you about, Eric.

BTW, I think 'Vincent's Lights' is one of your best yet.

Thanks Boom. It's fun to play but I kinda gotta get into the mood for it. I made a few mistakes in this recording but I was feelin' it so I usually just leave 'em in. Hope you are well and ticklin' that lovely Avi of yours!

I always appreciate you,

My Avi is not getting tickled as often as she or I would like due to to some house renovations (and whacking your left forefinger with a hammer is not conducive to good playing either!), but I am still managing to play a couple of times a week, even if only for short spells. It's interesting as, after a spell of nearly a week not playing her at one point, when I did, for some reason she just seemd to sound a lot fuller and more responsive. Warmer weather, perhaps?

That Goodall in the video, what model is it? Only an academic question, as Goodalls are rare as hen's teeth over here and priced accordingly, but I loved the tone on that thing.

Ouch Boom  I hate when that that happens! I bent my right thumb nearly all the way back at work several years ago and was so depressed for tryin' to play so I feel ya bro. But I understand when you come back to her they sound refreshing and you fall in love all over again. :P

My Goodall was a custom order I had done while James was still in Hawaii back in 2002 or so. A friend loaned me his Grand Concert to try and since he worked with James, I went thru him to build mine. The GC was nice but I wanted a deeper piano bass so I chose the Concert Jumbo which is slightly larger. I chose the woods after months of thought and trial and although Goodalls all retain a signature sound, certain wood combos lend themselves to certain colors and characteristics.
So I went with like a tropical, beeswing mahogany for b/s and cedar for the top; maple bindings, abalone inlays on fretboard/bridge, a custom tapered neck profile, (Tayloresque) and a I-Beam pickup which I don't really like so I never use and just use a mic if needed. The back wood is lightly flamed and 3D looking. I think in my very first YT video I demo the build and do a John Denver tune called This Ol Guitar. I was nervous since it was my first vid
Just like Goodalls are hard to find there, Avalons are scarce here. I bought my Ava without ever trying one, counting on the my love for my Lowden and their reputation and all the great support I found here on the forum. I was not disappointed to say the least! I want a A32c if I ever get another with an Irish palmtree inlay

Thanks again for the props & great chattin' with ya Boom!
