Thanks for the eye candy, JB. I would have loved to have got to the show (or better still worked on sound on it, so I could get to all the concerts - boy what a line-up that would be if it were a proper acoustic Festival!!). However,it's not to be, so

Some thoughts on some of the guitars.

James Joyce Parlour - not too sure about the headstock and bridge shapes, but certainly distinctive
L320 Bevel Celtic - beautiful, but bizarre: a bevel instead of a cutaway. Lovely colour back and sides too.
L370K Full Koa - droll, drool, drool! That's some piece of wood there. Just wondered what the tonal qualities of an all koa are. I know many ukes are all koa, but in a jumbo?
L800C–ES Brazilian - most bizarre looking Brazilian rosewood I've ever seen
L330C–ES Brazilian Walnut - if this one sounds as sweet as she looks, someone is going to be very lucky
DB340 Irish Spalted Maple - beautiful woods again. Not seen maple used much on dreads
S320 Americana - have to admit, if cash were no object and I was into blues...

Enough already! Let's face it, you boys at Avalon certainly know how to pick some fantastic woods and craft excellent instruments. Good luck at the show.

And if anyone is lucky enough to play any of these there, please share your thoughts.

The James Joyce Parlour is styled on the guitar he played in this photo and what is on display in the museum.

It sounds sweet and has a lot of presence for such a small guitar.

Explains the design then - very good copy too, looking at the photo.

And classe, as for the Celtic - that rosette - a masterpiece of inlay work!

I have to say that these guitars simply look stunning and I wish you the best of luck for thr show. People should realise even more, how creative and innovative you are. Now if they all would be without cutaway - too much to ask, I think

Interesting point, Dr D about the cutaway. I have two decent acoustics, one with a cutaway and one without. Realistically, I only have the cutaway to make access up to about fret 14 or 15 easier - anything above that gets too thin sounding on an acoustic IMHO. So, for me those lower front bout bevels probably provide all the access I'd need.

Wonder what the cost implications in terms of man hours are to put such a bevel on, rather than a cutaway. It must be easier to shape the guitar sides, though the joints might be fiddly as they would need to taper. Dare I suggest that a bevel might become part of the regular Legacy range options at some point?

Hi JB, I simply can't take my eyes of James Joyce, he's hands remind me of the old horror flick "The Hand" Check out he's hands and specs and tell me if you'd like to Jam with this guy. I love the guitar, but James looks like a man in need of a few Fish Suppers!
