TUSQ PINS

Postby MIKE 450 » 15 Aug 2011, 21:21

Hi y'all, I've just replaced the bridge pins on my guitar with TUSQ pins and I can't believe the difference in tone-loudness and sustain. Do take my word for it,if you have not tried them buy them NOW! Man Made Ivory.

Please let me know how you get on. Mike!

Interesting and glad it had a positive effect for you. In my experience changing bridge pins makes a pretty minimal difference to the characteristics of the sound. Some swear blind that brass pins for example add sustain etc but I've found the difference to be so subtle it's not worth the effort of trying to find pins that fit.

True, I agree with everything you say. I've tried brass and other's and they made zero difference,NOW try TUSQ Pins they DO make a hell of a difference. If only someone else would try these pins, someone who cares about tone-loudness-sustain go on GO FOR IT.

Do you have a link? Would they fit a A32 without any mods

Was wondering the same myself. I have read elsewhere they make a bit of a difference, but am sceptical that it might be just that as you are listening more acutely for a difference, you actually just hear for the first what was always there - a bit of the old self-fulfilling prophesy. Wonder what JB and the guys think...

Guys I will warn you, bring your guitar with you to the music store and get the correct size pin. I brought my Avalon 201CE and we tried quite a few before we found the right size. Don't order online, bring your guitar. And don't forget to mail me saying THANKS MIKE!

That why I gave up, too many sizes and my local guitar shops don't stock a range of pins.
