Not used one of those, but did some googling and found some very mixed reviews on amazon, you may want to read, particularly relating to the fact that you can only record one channel at a time, making it more of a digital notebook than a budget recording studio.

For a similar budget, I think the Zoom H2 or H4 can do two tracks at once - one can, the other can't, but I don't own one to know which. I have heard a number of nice live recordings where one channel was the SBD and the other ambience mics. It also doubles as a live recorder with its built-in mics.

I use an Edirol HR-09 as a live recording tool, which also doubles as a ideas recorder.

Keep us appraised of what you find - would be interested in purchasing soemthing to replace my old TAscam 4-track cassette recorder I sold a while back.

Cheers John, I think I'll take a look at the zoom, the boss br has to much stuff in it which I don't need. Your post explained perfectly what I do already, record my songs then go to the studio. My old tape recorder still tells the truth, but it's time for change.

All I want is to record myself live, playing a song. If only I still had my old bang & olfsen reel to reel, now those were the days. I'm not a fan mixing and swinging around in big leather studio chairs. My mates have studios but they know I don't like to play a song more than once or twice, I like to keep it organic "smell the campfire" just keep it simple. Thanks John!
