Hey all, I just bought my first Avalon and it is an A25C, I was wondering what size and kind of strings should be put on. Also I paid 2500.00 for it new and I was wondering what the the lowest price I could pick one up for elsewhare without electronics would be. I feel like I got a pretty good deal but I was just wondering.

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

We put D'Adarrios EXP16 on as standard, they're 12-53 gauge.
I'm assuming you mean 2500 usd, sounds like a good price, well done.

Enjoy your new weapon of choice, play long and prosper :D

Hey JB I read the article about using the Elixers, I would like to go with them as well but it sounded like you might have to open up the slots on the nuts a little. I realize that you don't want to shave any deeper down into the slot but to open it up a bit what tool of choice would you pick to do it with?

You'll need a rounded edged file to do a neat job, something like these.

or these

or maybe even these

Also ... take it slow and easy.
oh yea ... Elixirs are great ... that's what I use.

That's a really good price for a new one (atleast from the research I've done). Did you buy that from somewhere in the US? I'm looking for that same guitar, and I haven't been able to find it for less than $3400 (US dollars).
