Avalon Legacy with Gold Series Bolt-On Neck

Postby manonash » 16 Jun 2010, 21:10

I'm looking at a Legacy described as having a Gold Series Bolt-On neck. When were these made, and how many? How does it differ from the standard Legacy neck? Why the variation?

Thanks

Hi Manonash,

At one stage, a few years back, we made some bolt-on Gold models on a limited run, we'd considered adding a bolt-on neck option for the Gold range but when we stopped building them as a 'stock' model, only available when pre-ordered, we reverted to the tapered dovetail that we use on our Legacy series.

The bolt-on neck was faster to make and helped keep the Gold series prices lower.

This guitar was advertised as a Legacy L32c (and had a Legacy label inside), but the owner said (in the ad) that it had a Gold-style bolt-on neck. It also appears to have a gold embossed Logo rather than the abalone or mother-of-pearl logo I'm used to seeing on the Legacies.

Is the label bogus?

Also: were all of the L's in the Gold series made by Furch? This guitar has an abalone rosette consistent with the Furch golds.

Thanks.

I've checked the serial number and it's fine, the L32C you mentioned was built as a hybrid model back in 2005, Legacy body but with the 'faster' Gold neck profile and styling.
