Your influences & the latest artist your into

Alot of posts have been poping up about artists we've been influenced by in the music we listen to and play, along with artists we've just found ourselves discovering. So here's a place to post them and share what you've found 8)

Here's one song I was just listening to, Nick Drake - Black Eyed Dog

A band that i've been getting into over the past few month's, they've recently released an album that's on itunes too, very chilled music and one to look out for 8)

I've got to listen to more Nick Drake! For some reason I missed him in my musical education (maybe something to do with having Mozart and Bach rammed down my throat )

I really quite like this song, have a listen / watch!

Good lyrics too that one morgs, pretty good :)

Another band i got into came about after a trip to what is now the only music store in Carmarthen The Tangled Parrot since MVC/Music Zone went under, run and owned locally by a proper Punk 8). I went to buy the latest Flogging Molly Album (Celtic folk/punk, I’ll post a link for them too :) ), after a bit of being asked about what music i was into and being given suggestions and being played music by the resident Punk 8) i decided to settle on the flogging molly and check out his suggestions on old youtube  . What was great though was something that you wouldn't get in a generic music store like HMV or Virgin, he gave me a free copy of a compilation of some new and upcoming bands, which i have too say was a brilliant compilation, punk-folk-mainstream indie all on one CD, great stuff :D So here it is, one of my favourite bands of their genre since discovering them from that free CD, Blitzen Trapper.

for me i loved the early alchemy days of the late nick webb. he inspired me to where i bought 2 lowdens one being a nick webb s23 that; as i said on another post; i terribly regret selling. he was fluid, tasty and graceful; sort of like the jeff beck of acoustic; who by the way was my electric influence and caused me to drop the pick. i also loved the late john denver who i saw live many yrs ago as well as bob bennett who played at my church in st augustine...for today i like antione dufour, denis turbide of canada, sam pacetti (this guy is a local hero in st augustine check him out) and steffen shackinger(city lights) of denmark...i'm not one for aerobactics tho i appreciate them...i'd rather hear the piano like resonance of a few well picked passages on the open airy strings of an irish guitar! it takes me away like a vincent v. painting...i also love arranging old christian hymns too, which i did on my only cd alongwith some originals that was done soley for maritime missionaries...thankyou avalon and lowden for opening my world to so many of your wonderfully talented artists... i hope i can make it across the pond someday for a visit, meanwhile i await my dream guitar!
