Saddle issue

Postby mspark9 » 19 Nov 2009, 03:31

I'm now using Avalon Gold Series S200c

and it sounds really great in terms of tone and volume but

the action is bit too high(3mm at 12th fret).

So it seems like that the saddle that is originally installed on Gold sereis

is tusk. Is it correct?

I like its brightness but I just wanted to try a bone saddle on my guitar

which someone...was it JB?? recommended before.

So I was searching for bone saddles online and I need some help with

finding the right 'one'!

Thickness, compensated or not, drop-in or adjustable. I'm pretty

sure you people can tell me something about the right size and type

of the saddle for my guitar.

This website is the placing I was thinking of purchasing a saddle.

It seems like it's made for Martin guitars. Would it fit in for my guitar?

Ideally you need the thickness to be 1/8" or 3.2mm, I think the bone one on the site you provided is 3/32" or 2.3mm, that's too thin and will tilt over and distorting your intonation. It might be worthwhile asking if they supply the thicker version in bone compensated to save you some work.

Here are a couple of other options ...

http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproducts.asp?CategoryName=Nuts+%26+Saddles&NameProdHeader=Nuts+%26+Saddles Part #S2BU

But you will need to adjust height and sometimes a plain bone saddle is fine without any compensation added.
