Start a Facebook fan page!

I'm full of ideas me :D i'm currently a member of the Avalon Guitars Appreciation Society and the Avalon Guitars groups on Facebook. Both are fan made groups with a small following, groups were an early application for an organisation or any ordinary user to bring people together to socialise etc. Facebook has changed alot since then and these have become unpopular with most people and organisations as updates for members doesnt happen leaving you a bit ditached from the whole group. the use of fan pages however has become huge! take Gibson, they've got over 90,000 fans! fan pages are easy to access, promote, update fans and generally easier to create/maintain. anything from pics, vids, links to other sites and fan pages, events and just general chat can go on within a Facebook fanpage! :D So i thought it would be a great idea for Avalon to start an official Facebook page for all Avalon lovers out there in the worlds largest social networking site :D

this would be a great way to further promote Avalon guitars and of course this forum and the youtube channel :D it can also be linked with artists/labels who use Avalons that are currently registered with Facebook as well e.g. Candyrat Records - Andy Mckee. Hope you all like the idea 8) if you want some help starting it up i'd be happy to help, infact i'd be honoured! :D

Probably that's a good point for Avalon. There are no 90,000 fans... since guitar are probably made with much more love and care..
(I don't know if from a business perspective in Avalon they think in teh same way).
I didn't know those Facebook groups exist... I'm now a member of both.

yeah the groups have been around for while now but there's little or no activity on them, the problem with groups is that updates or posts don't show up your news feed or updates section meaning that not long after you join up, you become pretty detached form the whole thing :( thats why fan pages have become so popular, they're easier to keep up do date with for the fan and the creators.

just used the Gibson bit as an example of how popular it can be when somehting like that goes up and just by clicking 'become a fan' that person can be kept up to date with new products, events and join the discussion topics posted up by them. It can be thought of as free advertising, if you mention to new or existing customers to check out the fan page, forum, and youtube channel you can provide great customer serivice/care and create an Avalon Community like we have here :D I'd be more than happy to get it started for the Avalon crew but would prefer to do it with your permision, watcha say boys can i have a crack at it :D
