Avalon A 32 Custom/Lowden

Postby alancharlesstewart » 14 Oct 2004, 10:30

I'm interested in the above guitar (Ser. No. A00870) which is for sale. Is it permissible to ask for month , year and place of manufacture (your N Ireland factory, I assume). It has been customised. Would you be able to confirm from your records in what way and what the list price might have been? It would be reassuring to have a little background if you're able to help although I have no reason to doubt the seller's description. Thanks.

guitars of this description type will retail from £1695 - cosmetic additions/customisations will of course increase the price further. however we do not disclose the actual sale prices of individual guitars sold to retailers, distributors or customers butthe serial number indicates it was made this year. Hope this helps.

Hi

Are Avalon serial numbers applied consecutively or is there a "code" to them that we can apply to work out date of manufacture? Of course it's early days for the Avalon brand!! :)

serial numbers are applied consecutively, and as monthly/yearly production varies it is currently beneficial to simply enquire regarding specific guitars. After a few years of manufacture course we will no doubt display serial number manufacture dates since dating guitars is quite a popular request.

Previously there was a very handy serial number search facility on the website for L-brand guitars. Something along that lines would be very cool, particularly if it had the info for all the guitars built in Ards not just Avalon.

LOWDEN O-10

Postby alancharlesstewart » 06 Nov 2004, 11:11

Hello Dave

Another dating question, I'm afraid. This time it's a Lowden O-10 Serial No. 4399. Could you advise year of manuf. (mid-nineties?) and if a pickup was factory installed? Thanks.

You've probably got your answer by now, but my guess would be late nineties at the earliest. My O10c has a lower serial number than that, and was purchased from a dealer in the late nineties.
