Insurance

Not sure whether this is the most appropriate forum section for this or not, but anyhows...

Having got your Avalon(s) you have got something precious, and valuable.

Having done some sums I 'm thinking that it would be a good idea to get them insured because some times life does suck. Problem is that when I look at insurance my eyes cross and I haven't a clue if it is any good, or 'exclusion claused' to the point of uselessness.

Any of you lucky Avalon owners have any ideas or recommendations?

Yup. I am UK based.

I had a quick look, but I have a belief that if something is described in 10 pages of opaque language in tiny print it probably doesn't favour me.

Same as when I looked for photographic cover. In a bespoke safe in an armoured studio manned 24 hrs , great --- but you wanna do what? take it outside? oooooh, couldn't cover that!

Would love feed back from other guitarists. Not necessarily full time gigging, but normal folks taking guitars out and about for 'normal' playing out and occassions.

Hi Loki,

I use "Musicians Insurance Services" based in Derbyshire 0845 345 7529 http://www.musiciansinsurance.co.uk

I have both my Equipment insurance and Public Liability through them, at what seems to be a fair premium for the cover you get.
Equipment is covered on an "all risks" basis in Britain and in the EU, with an option of overnight in an unattended vehicle, subject to certain conditions, (alarm, immobiliser etc).
Gear is also covered if left at a gig unattended (on stage, restaurant etc).

However, regardless of this, I never leave my Avalon anywhere!!

I have only ever had to make two claims, both accidental damage, but both were sorted, hassle free.
Hope this helps.
