AVALON GUITARS -DREADNAUGHT

Postby MERSOUND » 09 Oct 2004, 03:43

HI
I'm leaving on a vacation trip next Tuesday.
I plan on visiting a MUSIC STORE that stocks
Avalon guitars. Presently have 3 guitars. My main
guitar is a Guild D55E. I've had a Taylor,Larivere,
Gibson, etc looking at Avalon as an alternative or
back up for my gigs. Could anyone please help me
with the pluses of the Avalon. Such as tone,
balance, sustain, etc. I also prefer a dreadnaught
style.

THANKS IN ADVANCE,
MERSOUND

Hello and welcome to the forums Mersound.

Pluses of an Avalon in either Legacy or Gold range .... well firstly you'll be getting a guitar that is hand made using very high quality woods, a good starting place for any guitar :)

Add to that the construction using our tried and tested strut patterns for best possible balanced sound and solid dove-tail neck-joint to assist a strong sustain.

The D32 is a fantastic guitar with a BIG sound :D

For a more indepth discussion on tones and sound characteristics I'm sure Dave with input more info for you on Monday.

Cheers

To JB
Thanks for your info.
The dove tail effect is a very good point.
I'm looking forward to having an " AVALON "
dreadnought in my hands.
Appreciate your help.
Mersound
PS...I know I'm going to love this forum
and will try to help when possible.

Yes, I would reiterate Jims comments, the Avalon guitar is very well balanced with a very sweet midrange which makes it a great recording guitar but has plenty of body for performace, thats to say it isnt thin sounding and you dont have to dig it too hard because the dynamic response is good making it suitable for fingerstyles too. Our all handmade guitars are solid wood with ebony fingerboards, all wood bindings and purflins making them exceptional value for money in the world of high tech .

HI DAVE,
I'm back from vacation. I didn't get a chance
to go and try the Avalon guitars as it was a
four hour drive from where I was staying.
I plan on going next week.
Will inform you of my arrival back.
Thanks, Mersound
