Please read the Rules before Posting

Postby theboss » 15 Sep 2004, 16:09

Purpose:
These rules are in place to ensure the Avalon Guitars forums will be a friendly place where members can learn and share information on a variety of guitar playing and building topics. Therefore, these rules offer guidance on what is appropriate to post and what we regard as acceptable forum etiquette. Your participation on the Avalon Guitars forums is at all times subject to these rules, therefore please familiarise yourself with them.

What you can post:
You can post anything relevant to the world of Avalon Guitars, guitar playing, lutherie, guitarists and acoustic guitars in general. Remember to place your message in the relevant forum area to make it more likely to attract the attention of someone interested in the subject.

What you cannot post:
No copyrighted or trademarked material:
You cannot post copyrighted material or a reproduction of registered trade/service marks without permission from the author or owner. For example, this means that, without prior permission, you may not post a copy of a review from a guitar or music magazine or e-zine, or an image of a manufacturer's trademarked logo.

No defamatory statements:
Defamatory statements will be deleted; for example, statements that contain certain kinds of untrue factual information about a person or a company that is derogatory. As a general rule, avoid repeating vague and unsubstantiated rumours about someone or some company. By all means, relate to your experiences and your opinions, based on what you know not what you have heard on the grapevine.

No flames, personal attacks or contentious off-topic comments:
We expect members to behave respectfully and not launch personal or abusive attacks on other members. The object is to make this a pleasant environment to discuss guitars in a friendly atmosphere, not a place for name-calling or grudge bearing. Those who post for the sole purpose of causing trouble are not welcome here and will be dealt with accordingly. Posts openly criticising the policies of, or demonstrating a lack of respect for the Company are not permitted. If you have a criticism of Avalon Guitars or our forums then feel free to email Avalon Guitars directly admin@avalonguitars.co.uk with your comments.

No promotion of business interests:
You may not promote any website or business you have a financial or other interest in, or use the goodwill of this community to help build one of your own. The forums are here to allow people to freely share knowledge, not provide them with personal financial gain, or free advertising.

Watch Your Language:
Avalon Guitars would like you and your whole family to learn and share via our forums. For this reason swearing or the posting of "adult" or offensive material is forbidden. Simply replacing some of the letters in a swear word with a * or any other character is not acceptable. If you must then please replace the whole word with ***** or other repeated character.

Communication:
Allow for the possibility of misunderstandings and be patient if someone asks for an explanation of what seems to be obvious.

Non-native English speakers are very welcome to participate in the Avalon Guitars forums. Your command of English will certainly be far better than the average native English speaker’s command of your language. Therefore, forum members will be tolerant of your participation. Even native English speakers have a vocabulary that is unique to a particular English-speaking country!

Posting the same message to multiple boards is not allowed:
Please pick the most appropriate forum for your message. Do not post the same message on several boards. Duplicate posts will be deleted.

No professional advice:
We ask all members not to ask for, nor give out, professional advice unrelated to guitars. For example, this is not the place to either seek or offer medical, legal or similar kinds of professional advice.

What happens if I break the rules?
At best your post will be edited by the appropriate Moderator and you will be issued a warning. If the offence is more serious your post will be deleted. Posting "why was my post edited/deleted?" etc. will also be deleted so please don't. For persistent and deliberate rule-breakers your membership will be "Barred". That means you will be no longer welcome on these forums and your membership will no longer function. If you re-register, your new account will be deleted immediately.
