Oooops, just scratched my top.

Postby greg.farmer » 08 Jul 2008, 16:45

Hey Guys.

I have a beautiful L805CE which the boys in belfast made for me a couple of years ago :D but when I got it out the other day my finger nail scratched the top. :( Being cedar and quite soft it kinda shows. Is there a way to do a quick fix to bring the scratch out :?:

There are also a few diverts on the top I think from where my shirt buttons hit it. I'm guessing they are there to stay. No biggy but if you have any ideas what could maybe tidy those up then much appreciation will be yours from me. More so if you can advise about the scratch :)

Thanks guys

Greg

Ouch Greg .... that always hurts !

New scratches can be more obvious when first done because they sometimes have that 'white' look to them and even a quick rub with some polish can reduce the visual impact.

As for 'removing' scratches and dings ... that's a bit more involved andthere are a few options.

1. Careful filling with super thin superglue and a gentle touch with fine finishing paper and steel wool can work wonders.

2. A respray, expensive and only advisable if you really, really can't live with scratches and dings.

On a ligther note, try not to think of them as scratches and dings but as character

 Blimey - Don't think a bit of super glue would fix Willies guitar :)

Stereo sound holes... what a innovative idea...or maybe it's just easier to retrieve your pick if it falls in? :D

Each to his(or her) own. I have a few "well traveled" guitars, but they get retired before that extent, but then again, look at Willie!

I thought he was saying "bloomin' ebay - it said it had been gigged, but this is ridiculous!".
