Bass guitar....... HELP

Postby David » 30 Jun 2008, 21:43

My son is determined to learn Bass and I know little about them. Can anyone recommend a good starter bass? I've been told Ibanez GSR200, but that was by a guy selling.......... yes you guessed it, Ibanez.

Usually I become a member of the guitar discussion forums to get doubts clarified when I do have one, but never thought I would come to a place where I can give some prudent advice too.
For beginners I would suggest the Fender DG-5 acoustic as this a full size acoustic guitar with the help of which your son would be able to learn the perfect way for hand placements, the ways of holding it. Once these are mastered it becomes rather easy to master the electric guitar. Hope this is going to help your son in his learning process. At the same time do tell me if there are any online electric guitar lessons and if they can help him in his cause.

If it's metal he wants to play then go for an Ibanez, anything else look at Squire - the P-Bass has a good reputation for beginners.
