Seal That Ding!!

Postby onemanband » 01 Jul 2007, 12:06

Hi,..........whats the best way to seal a small ding where the top joins the side. The laquer has flaked slightly leaving exposed wood and any advice from the workshop would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Thanks.........Brian.

One of the quickest and best fixes is good 'ol super glue, it works wonders on lacquer and easily moves between the multiple lacquer layers sealing the wood and bonding the layers together.

** Warning ** Use very little and build it up slowly as super glue can be an unpredictible beast if you put too much on, if it runs across the finish an you don't remove it quickly it'll leave nasty marks.

After it's dry you can use 1000 grit wet/dry and some 00000 steel wool to give that satin look. If done correctly repairs can become quite invisible.

Have fun !
