After one year...

Postby Lentin » 20 Apr 2007, 22:50

My L32 is now one year old (well, actually 16 months).
Should I make any maintenance on her? (like cars, you know...)
To carry it to a luthier to check the neck and all those things?
Thanks.

The only think you would need to do is lightly oil the fingerboard with some fingerboard oil ... but unless you have a problem in another area there should be no need to do anything else .... well change strings too lol

Did your L32's sound "open up" over that 16 months time...? Meaning, did the bass response become richer and the trebles smoother?

In other words, do you think it sounds different/better now from the first day you got it?

Difficult question... I'm not sure.
I don't remember how she really sounded when I bought her. I just fell in love since the very first note.
I know that I'm still in love with her and that today the sound is brilliant.
I came from a couple of guitars with a very bad bad sound in the 5th string. Completely 'muffled'.
The Avalon is full of sound in every string. (when strings are new). Better than the first day? Probably, but I don't know.
It´s like a boy. When you see him every day you don't realise he is growing.

Fingerboard oil

Postby Ponyboy-Fission » 25 Apr 2007, 14:09

All I've ever used on the rosewood fingerboard is lemon oil at string changes, do you think that is a sufficient product?
