Converting my Avalon to leftie

Postby Sam Price » 07 Apr 2007, 13:43

Hi...I build guitars, but like my Avalon so much, I am going to convert it myself, by filling in the "righty" saddle slot with the matching bridge material and re-routing the slot. Two methods spring to mind...

1) Probably the best way for me is to take the existing measurements off the current saddle slot and literally re-measure the saddle slot to angle the opposite way.

2) Of course the proper way is to take the scale length and add compensation. As I don't know what the compensation is (looks like 3.5mm between D and G, etc, I might be wrong), could it be a good thing to stick with option 1) unless someone could tell me the scale length and compensation.

Thanks for reading this. I just can't let this baby go, I really like the tone.
