Could my top be englemann?

Postby lalowdwn1 » 26 Jul 2006, 17:51

Hi JB,

I just took a D200CE off someone's hands and couldn't be happier. He and the dealer from whence he puchased both realize sitka is the wood of choice, but both swore this particular instrument was made with englemann. Can this be correct? It does certainly look more like englemann (whiter, ivory hue, tight and less-defined grain marks...).

No worries either way - sound is what is important.

thanks!

MJ

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

Altho' it is entirely possible that an Englemann got put on by mistake it's more likely to be Alpine Spruce, they can look similar sometimes.

Cheers
