Belfast gig announcement

Postby Colin Johnston » 13 Oct 2004, 00:02

My new Southern Rock / Blues / Jam Band / whatever... project, "Southbound", are starting to get a few tasty gigs lined-up. Theatre dates around the country as well as a trip up to McGrory's in Culdaff will be announced in a few weeks, but here's a date just confirmed. No Avalon content I'm afraid but it should be a good nights craic with LOTS of guitar playing!! :D

Ah! That might explain why I always play to an empty house... Thanks for the advice Colin :P

Everybody - go to the gig! It'll be worth it I'm sure! ;) :D

We had a "stage volume" practice with the full lineup last night - awesome!

If you're a guitar player you haven't lived until you've played in front of 2 drummers!! :D

Really? 2 drummers? Is this so that you've got a double check that the stage is level?? :P :D

Sounds pretty amazing actually. Do they both play rhythm as such or does one play the rhythm and one fill in? How does it work?

LOL The old drummer jokes are the best!

Sometimes they're both punching it out with slight variations - this is amazing, it's like a train coming at you!! :)

Sometimes one of them will virtually drop out. Sometimes ones nailing the groove while the other is playing accents.

It really helps that the two drummers are friends and both great & very experienced players.

THEN, for our theatre date in Downpatrick we're adding a percussionist too!! :D 8)

I was talking to a banjo player at a music store recently, then he started playing and put his dead down in concentration... soon after, a huge gob of drool rolled out of his mouth and down his shirt. It was so perfect!
