My album 'Teabag'

Postby tomj » 28 Jan 2012, 17:46

I hope this doesn't contravene any board rules ( please let me know if it does JB ) but I just wanted
to mention that I have completed an acoustic instrumental album called 'Teabag' which you can hear
at http://tomjanssen.bandcamp.com

I started recording it on my much loved L10C but most of the way through recording a heavy power soak fell on it :( .
I'm not particularly materialistic but I am when it comes to my guitars. In this instance I must admit I nearly cried.
However in one of those peculiar synchronistic twists an ex-demo L12C was on sale at the Avalon shop for exactly the amount I had in my bank account.
Spooky. I bought it and finished the album with the L12C. What a guitar. I love it.

Cheers

Hi Tom

Congratulations on the album! You get a lovely tone from your L10c - it is obviously made for fingerstyle! Love the playing! :D
What tunings do you use?

I also love the story - well the ending, anyway :
However in one of those peculiar synchronistic twists an ex-demo L12C was on sale at the Avalon shop for exactly the amount I had in my bank account.
I wonder how many long-suffering partners have heard the same sort of thing from GAS-afflicted Avalon fans?!

Keep 'em coming!

Lomg may you strum!

John :D

Thanks for your kind words John, much obliged.
The tunings on the album are DADGAD(5 tracks), DGDGBD(2 tracks), DADEAD (3 tracks) & CADEAC (3 tracks).
Luckily my OH was very understanding so there was no probs with the acquisition of the L12C which ended up on 4 of the tunes.
Now that the L10C has been patched up a bit it sounds lovely again but I can't gig with it anymore, sadly.
So the L12C is the main beast now.

Cheers
Tom

I know what you mean. Not in the same league as your said event, but when I opened up the case on my Collings a couple of months back to discover my Kyser capo had escaped the storage compartment, I just knew what had happened when I took out the guitar and turned it over: sure enough a 3-4mm wide dent in the back of the neck at the seventh fret.

Nice album by the way.

Ow. That's a big dent. That must have hurt.

Here's the scar in my L10C:

Thanks for the nice comment, boombox.
