Bert Jansch passed away last week

Postby Lentin » 13 Oct 2011, 22:54

Sad notice for guitar lovers.
Last week Bert Jansch passed away, on Oct, 5th.

His official web page does not mention anything.
If you didn't know him, listen to Pentangle, or search in YouTube his excellent apparently easy guitar, and his peculiar voice.
Not too much known in Spain, but he has been one of my references for many years.

Thanks for posting, Lentin.

Bert was a reference point for most British guitarists. It was his Angie we played, not Davey Graham's. I heard him in intimate sessions over the years and he had a real magic about him.

Last year I bought a Martin D12 - 20 off Paul Wassif who had been touring with Bert recently and who talked warmly of him. I would have so loved to have jammed with him. A major talent and a really good guy. (I still can't do Angie quite the way he did after 45 years or so of trying!!!) :D

Thanks again.

John
