A close friend to Avalon, the talented singer/songwriter Sean Rea is about to undergo major heart surgery tomorrow Thursday 28th August in Dublin. Sean featured in the Belfast/Nashville festival last February and became a devotee of Avalon guitars, ordering four custom instruments just nearing readiness at the factory now.

It has come as a great shock to learn of Sean's illness and this post goes out to all in the Avalon community to keep Sean in your thoughts & prayers as he faces his surgery tomorrow.

An update on Sean - he was all prepped for his surgery yesterday but the doctors called it off at the last minute as they thought he was too ill to go through with it. They are conducting some non-invasive procedures this morning. Regardless of all this, his wife told me this morning that Sean was talking about writing new songs when he recovers so it's good to know he's battling through with a great positive attitude!
