Hi John
I bought a number of sets of 10s and 11s.I have had the 10s on a Taylor concert model and the windings wear through in a couple of weeks of constant playing.Because the G string is so light I could be bending it alot more.
My Avalon and Gibson used to have 11s and they did,nt seem to fare much better. It usually happens at the 2nd fret and 4th fret and has ocurred at the 7th and 9th fret, windings completely break allowing the inner wire to be seen. There is one tune I play which has a hammer ons on the A and B of the G string so maybe I am playing that tune too much.
I have still got a couple of sets so when my present set on the Taylor are done I will string it up with the Newtones and keep a bit more of a record.
Incidentally I loved the tone and they made it so easy to play, esp barre chords,I will probably give them another go with 12s.

Hi John
I will post back on this topic in a few weeks when i have made a bit more thorough test of the strings.
It may interest you to look at David's post in the Maton EBG808 thread in General Guitar Chat you will see he had some problems with Newtones as well.

What kind of strings are you using?
I had a similar rattle problem when I used Newton Heritage lower tension strings. Changed back to regular tension strings and it went away as quickly as it arrived. No problem since

You might have read my Factory Visit post 6 months ago about when JB met me at the factory and asked one of the lads to service my D25,after it came back with new EXPs it sounded better than ever so I have gone back to them with excellent results.
