Machine Heads

Postby Joe » 24 Apr 2006, 09:22

Hi, Ive just bought an L12 really pleased with it but wish to change the machine heads. They are Gold Gotoh heads, can I replave them without drilling any more hole in the head? I wanted to replace the gold ones for silver insead. Obviously I need to find a Gotoh dealer can you suggest anywhere? Maybe you can tell me which model are used on the guitar.

Thanks
JB

Are your tuners like this? http://www.avalonguitars.com/images/guitars2/A350back_S.jpg

If so, you'll have no problems getting some silver ones. For starters you could try google: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=gotoh+tuners&start=0&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8

I don't know for sure (the tuners on my gold aren't the same) but they look like the large, schaller style gotoh's to me. That should get you what you want in a good shop.

You could probably keep the buttons if you wanted to. Just undo the screw at the end and pull em off :)

too many JB's lol :D

We use Gotoh SG381, formerly known as SG38 and you can get replacements from http://www.allparts.uk.com/

The important thing remember is the angle of the screw lug ... some come straight out from the back plate but we use one that comes out at a 45 degree angle if you know what i mean.
