Few silver series questions

Hello one and all.
I'm looking in to purchacing a DS200E (sure, its not top of the range but I'm only 17 and just bought 2 Status basses :))
Would this be suited (or easily enough made suitable) for Tommy Emmanuel's style of playing? I'd like something good for that sort of stuff, and also along the lines of "Sisters" by Steve Vai (Passion & Warfare), which does involve a few short sweep picking sections.

Any string recommendations? I tend to use Elixer Polyweb acoustic strings on my electric {I dont know why either. Feel i guess, and i can get a really mean Eric Johnson tone with them :D) - certainly very nice to play on, but would they go "furry" even faster than they do on the electric due to the difference in playing technique between electric and acoustic?

And finally - I noticed a comment on another thread about discounts if you come to the factory to buy it... I live out near Killinchy, 10 miles or so away. What sort of price would we be talking about here, for the aforementioned model? Private message or email me if its not a "forum" suitable issue :) cofneverlivetotell@hotmail.com

Cheers
Steve

Hi- I've got a DS200, and there is nothing wrong with 'em whatsoever, its a bright guitar, with good sound balance, clear seperation of bass, trebles and brightness...

I would say that the Sitka spruce top has a medium to tight grain, which would indicate more brightness, and the lower strings keep their tone well right up the fretboard.

The harmonics are beautiful, and the sustain is amazingly long, and easily controllable with the fast, sleek rosewood fretboard: in fact the fretboard is of great quality, being extremely smooth, and surprisingly hard for rosewood.

I want to know as well, if Elixirs are sympathetic with Avalons, I have a set of Nano lights waiting to be strung up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will eventually buy a soundhole or piezo pup eventually.... :D
