Action

Postby zsmith » 26 Nov 2005, 07:47

Hey I just bought a AS201, really like the sound, but i want to lower the action a bit. How should this be done? Should I just take it to a pro or is it fairly simple?
Thanks
Zach

Hi Zach, if your guitar has not been fitted with a pick-up then the rosewood shim under the saddle should still be in place, ease of the string tension enough to slide the saddle out.

Then use a pin or scalpel blade to grip the shim and remove it. This will lower the action by about 1.2mm at the bridge.

This is the quickest and easiest method to lower the action, but sometimes removing the shim can drop the action to far you'll just have to try it and see.

If you do decide to lower the action by sanding the bottom of the saddle, give to someone who knows what they are doing if your not sure.

Other than that it's fairly straight forward :)
