Advice on Seconds

Postby blue_line » 24 Mar 2005, 10:15

Hi,

I'm looking to purchase myself a semi-acoustic guitar. I have been well impressed with Avalon but any new models for what I require are out of budget. The guys at Avalon have recommended looking at their seconds which would be within my budget.

Can any of you guys give me any advice on Avalon seconds and what I can expect? Perhaps if you have purchased a second in the past you could let me know you thoughts?

I played a D200CE in the Avalon factory in Newtownards a couple of years back. It was a second. Personally I had no idea what was the problem with it. It sounded fantastic, looked great and was anything I could ever want in a guitar. Sadly I didn't have the £1100 spare... Maybe next time.

My L*wd*n O10 is a "second". Fantastic guitar and indistinguishable from a "perfect" guitar.

Have you checked out the Silver Series? Great wee guitars & tremendous value!! :D

All our 2nd's at the factory will normally be cosmetic blemishes only, you know, a mark under the lacquer or maybe a shading in the wood that's not just right, maybe a pitch mark that only shows up once the wood darkens after being sprayed.

Sometimes a 2nd might have been to a show and have a few light scuff marks from playing etc etc .... suffice to say that anyone that has bought a 2nd guitar has been very happy ..... and so they should :D

All 2nd's carry a full warranty so it really is a no-brainer :P
