Always on and off discussions in here about strings. Here is another one people may find interesting.

Yeah, interesting clip. So many varied opinions on strings, both makes and types.
I've pretty well settled on D'Addario 80/20 Bronze; (12's for my six and 10's for my twelve string). I might try some Martins; I don't like Elixers (far too bright for my liking); I'm also not sure if coated strings are a great advantage if you're a regular player, and change strings often and are they noticeably duller than their uncoated brothers?
I know Avalons come equipped with D'Addario EXP (coated) but, Phospher Bronze or 80/20 ??
I'd be interested to hear opinions and recommendations from other Avalon 12string players.
Thanks again for the link..........Brian

I go back and forth with Martins, D'Adarios or Adamas. I've tried the coated strings. They play nice, but not my preference.

After watching that clip, and Tommy Emmanuel's endorsement of "Everly" strings, I've ordered a set to try. Watch this space, I'll let you know the result!!

So, re-strung my A32 (12 string) this morning with a set of Everly PB 10's ; seemed really high tension and felt really "tight"; think I'll give those a miss!!
Trying a set of DR "Rare" PB's tomorrow!!

Yep, re-strung today with DR "Rare" PB's. Much better; definetely less tension resulting in a much nicer feel plus, a much more warm and rounded sound than the Everly's.
Having wanted to move away from coated, I think I've found my string, and I hope this little experiment may help others!

Brian.

P.S. thanks Jim for the bits you sent me and for your continued help and advice.
