Where can I lay eyes/hands/ears on some Legacy models ?

Postby AlanW » 02 Oct 2008, 21:41

I was wondering is there anywhere in the Dublin area that stock your fantastic guitars or should I just jump in the car and head up the M1 ?
I have played a couple of Legacy models in Musicmaker and am really impressed with them but the guitars they have there are the last of their stock and whilst they're offering some decent discounts the guitars are shop soiled with some nasty war wounds

It will be difficult to find a large selection of our guitars locally, coming up to see us might be the only way :)

Gotta agree with Jim and now that you have that fancy road up to the north, you'll can be in Newtownards in no time at all! However, if you really fancy a treat, this weekend at the MusicIreland event in Dublin, a new line of guitars is being launched that have been designed, developed and hand-made by Avalon in Newtownards - and our very own clinician Darren Moan will be there to play them.

Here's a sneak preview of two of the four models on show: http://www.avalonguitars.co.uk/albums/Craftine/index.html

The range is called "Craftine", named after the first musician to appear in Irish folklore. He played the harp (which, for forum members outside Ireland, is the symbol of the Irish state - and I bet you all thought it was a pint of Guinness!), so the guitars are styled with a harp shaped headstock and lots of tasty celtic knotwork inlay.

However, you'll find equally wonderful guitars in the Avalon showroom!

According to the Music Show Website.......

Run by the dynamic Lisa Kane and Gerry Forde, Craftine are based in Calmount Avenue, Dublin 12 and they now produce a classy guitar that has been designed and handcrafted in Ireland. If you want to know more about the myth and the legend that is Craftine, visit their stand at The Music Show

........ but no mention of Avalon ?

The Craftine.ie website shows a slideshow of the two guitars in your album but no details of who makes it. I'm curious....Are these being made by a new outfit under licence/to your design or is it a marketing arrangement ?

They're very recognisable as Avalon guitars, despite the absence of the "A" logo (or an Avalon label). I like the Kevin Ryan style bevel, but the "bling" is a bit over the top for my taste. They seem to have a one-piece neck too, not the usual neck from the Premier Series. Can you tell us more about the other models in the line up, or a bit about the construction of these new guitars and how the differ from the existing Avalon guitar range ?

By the way, I think there's a happy future waiting for this model, love the body style........

........ I'd love to see it with a full colour sunburst top and natural full depth body ! !

I was lucky enough to play the all black version and really liked the sound and feel.

Great to see new developments and wish you continued success.

Sean.

Then, Alan W, get in a motor car and get up to the workshops.

From the Irish Ferries terminal in Dublin to Avalon is 2 hrs , give or take 5mins.

You'll be well received and see/play some wonderful instruments.

I find it a very pleasant/dangerous place to go.

But I will NOT buy more guitars I will NOT buy more guitars (this is a little mantra my wife taught me...)

Are these guitars actually Avalon guitars? Or are they Craftine guitars, which just so happen to have been made by you guys?
