Amp to match Avalon AS-201CE

Postby dermois » 23 Feb 2005, 23:56

Can anyone suggest a decent amp to use with my Avalon AS-201CE? I’m about to buy one and at present the Marshall AS50 R is my choice, I’m only looking to spend around £200. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

:D
Dermo, I have a A101CE and used the Mashall with it it seemed ok actually sounded pretty good till I tried using it turned up a little. I don't mean supper loud the amp has a tendency to rattle a bit with the big bass tone so I sold it and picked up a fender dsp jr. tonaly the Marshall is fine without additional equipment though the fender sounds thinner and more treble tone so I added a sonic maximizer and a boss 7 b eq and I love it now. The fender handles higher volume settings much better then the marshall did much tighter sound also. The draw back with the fender was the additional cost of equipment. If you like the marshall go with it seems to have a nice sound out of the box.

Ultrasound Acoustic amps! They are the best I've ever tried!

You will get the most natural sound with one of these!!!

Yea they lok like a good Amp by all reports. Dealers in the UK are a bit short on the ground and any there are seam to be pricing the same in Pounds and they sell for Dollars. I'll maybe save up a bit longer and try and get a better amp.
Thanks Everyone

I hate that. I would love a nice Mesa-Boogey amp for my leccie. Best prices I can find here in the UK are around the grand for the one I like. Best prices I've found for it in the states is about $800.

That's why I said - for my leccie - for my electric guitar. I was just pointing out that we get rippied off over here.

Yea, but you should get better deals on Orange amps, then we do in the states (since they're made in the UK).

exactly - compare the price of a MESA 4x12 cab and a Marshall one!! :D

It costs a lot of money to ship products halfway round the world and setup distribution and service overseas. Ultimately the customer covers these costs.

BTW - I bought a MESA Boogie F50 last summer and it's a fantastic piece of kit - highly recommended. I got it in Belfast for £1065 - best price in the UK, then or since. :D
