Avalon Guitars on the BBC!

Postby stevemac » 30 Aug 2008, 10:51

There is a regional BBC show in Northern Ireland called Northern Exposure which is a travel/road trip kind of format where a couple of celebs roam around the province visiting top :? tourist attractions. In the last program of the series broadcast last night, Avalon Guitars is featured. No doubt you missed it! Never mind, you can have a watch via the BBC iPlayer (why does everything techie begin with 'i' these days?). Follow this link to see the show: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00d5z40/

It is a mercy that Avalon is up second (from 5:58 mins) so you don't have to suffer the shock of seeing Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen in a seaweed bath.

Apologies as ever to those of you outside the UK & Ireland who may not be able to view this content - BBC 'ipolicy' I think.

That wasn't our Jim who greeted the L-Bs :?
Who was that imposter and why has Jim been banished to the back office? :(

Jim had the good sense to avoid the ignominy of it all!

A team effort! There was Mark and Robin with speaky bits and Ernie & Stevie G showing body parts. Jim was offered the part of Lawrence's coiffeur, but when seen holding a carving knife and a pot of nitro-cellulose lacquer, the Beeb asked him to audition for a part in the next series of Murphy instead!

So there you have it! All is now clear.
I thought SteveMac was the same Steve as in the spray shop!
It was good while it lasted. Should have done a full programme on Avalon :D

He's a bit of a one that Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, I was very surpised to see him talking about jugs just before the piece on Avalon!!

That black guitar looked very nice - who's it for, and what is it? Is it a secret?

Well spotted Ross - very nice guitar that one. It is somewhat under wraps although letting the BBC in to film it doesn't suggest much discretion on our part, let alone broadcasting that it's for "a very wealthy guy in Dublin"! It just happened to be the guitar on the final assembly bench the day they came to film.

It is a unique custom guitar which we'll tell you more about in October! Here's a better view in the meantime ...

Rich guy in Dublin eh? Is it the mayor of Dublin? ;)

Whoever it's for, it is one mean looking guitar.
