What size Hiscox for a Legacy?

Postby Doug Young » 29 Aug 2008, 07:09

Hi. I bought the DADGAD/AMO Legacy Avalon I asked about a while back, and the only negative is the case is a bit warped and doesn't quite close properly. I'm thinking of getting a new case for it, either the Pro II or the Artist Hiscox, but I'm not sure what size to order. Would it be a jumbo or the dread case?

Hiscox cases are under warranty for one year, so if your purchase was recent and the case supplied with the guitar is now faulty, it can be replaced or repaired. Any kind of warranty issue can be notified and dealt with by emailing info@avalonguitars.com with the details.

Jumbo sized ... Hiscox use the code 'GAD' for our Jumbo cases.

Jumbo, thanks. Steve, nice to know about the warranty, but this is a used Avalon that I got from Mandolin Bros, L-000453, quite a few years old. Nice guitar!

I'm confused now. Hiscox lists their Pro II "jumbo" case as model # ProII GJ, and their Dreadnought case as Pro II GAD. Does that mean I should really be getting a Dread size Hiscox? If GAD is the key, it looks like it's the dread case

The sizes on the GAD case, as reported on the Hiscox site, look a tad too small as well. 521 mm body length vs 540 for the L-series, 292 upper bout vs 303, etc. But the Jumbo/GJ looks a bit roomy. Hmm.

The GAD case made for an Avalon Jumbo fits perfectly.

Sorry to be dense, but does that mean I should get the GAD case (that Hiscox lists as being for a dreadnought) or the jumbo case (that Hiscox labels GJ)? I'm being confused by the "GAD/Jumbo" connection which isnt the way Hiscox is listing them.

I think Hiscox make a case specificly for Avalon called the GAD Jumbo. It won't necessarily be an option on their website though, you may have to call them.

Thanks, I may just be stuck with what I have, since I'm in the US, and the US distributor is as confused over this as I am. Time to get out the hammer and see if I can bend it back into shape.

Brewster is correct ... Hiscox make an Avalon GAD case, I'm sure the US distributor could order one for you.
