Hi all,
this is my first post and, I hope, not my last.
I'm looking forward to the Cheltenham guitar show as it'll be my first chance to get my hands or eyes on a genuine Ireland-made Avalon. Does anybody know what guitars might be 'appearing' at the event?
Cheers
Dale

Welcome to the forum Dale! Glad to have you join us. Those of you able to come along to the Cheltenham Guitar Show (http://www.guitar-show.com) are in for a feast of excellent hand made guitars from many of the UK's top builders. Avalon will be taking part for the first time at this show and we'll be bringing an array of our top end master series models, a few Premiers and a Legacy or two. Depending on space, we will have the Americana's, two stunning Rio's - an L800 and an S800c, a blackwood premier, an L325 with amazingly figured rosewood and - ** breaking news!** - we will be using the show to launch two new parlour models - the Daedalus Parlour and the Americana Parlour. Look forward to seeing some of you there.

I should have mentioned that the show is staged at the Cheltenham Town Hall on 13 & 14 September.

Excellent, I'm looking forward to the day (Saturday for me). I hope the Legacies / Premiers will include an auditorium size (please)?
Thus far I have only managed to play a Silver 100 series, so I'm looking forward to experiencing a made-in-Ireland model.
Good health,
Dale
PS
I have to ask if the Rio model on eBay sold as I went on holiday and when I came back it had disappeared. I sure wish I had the money for one of them golden apples.

Dale - Jim will have to check the Rio you're referring to which I'm sure he'll do on Monday. I look forward to seeing you in Cheltenham!

Ross - if you've recently got an Avalon, don't worry about the new models - they are nothing like anything we've done before and wouldn't be viewed as alternatives to the rest of the range in terms of size and sound - they're really compact parlours - we've gone right back to turn of the century stuff (and I mean 19th to 20th) for inspiration, but with the usual Avalon enhancements you'd expect, especially in terms of tone. No pics yet, but we'll whet your appetite with lots of pics in early September.

I'd be very interested to see and hear them. Do they have V shape neck like the old Washburns?

No v-shape neck on these. The era they are inspired by predates Washburn, the profile is rounder, more 'C' shaped.

Steve,

I am going to Cheltenham for the second time this year, and am absolutely delighted to see that Avalon are exhibiting.

There's no way I can organize a trip to Avalon HQ this year (blame the Credit Crunch), so this is the next best thing until I am able to visit.

Hey, brill, just up the road. If I ring my A340C would you be able to fit a pick guard for me (cause I'm too scared to fight the bubbles myself!!)?

I guess that's a no then. Oh well. I guess I'll have to weigh up which is worse, unsightly bubbles or potential scratches.

Postby dale warner » 04 Sep 2008, 19:15

I'm at my wit's end.
I'm trying to keep my savings for Cheltenham and you folks at Avalon keep putting up temptresses on eBay.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... =p3907.m29
and
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Avalon-Guitar-L25 ... m153.l1262 are the latest beauties testing my resolve.
Please, please, no more.....
I really can't wait to try an Avalon in the flesh er... wood.
Looking forward to the 13th.
Cheers

Just a little over a week to go Dale - hang in there, it will be worth it. We've just added two more models to the show list - an outstanding custom walnut and a rosewood with some of the most stunning flame & figure we've seen in a long while. Looking forward to seeing you there.
