Year of my new A200CE

Postby mikegriz » 28 Jul 2008, 20:02

Hi!
I was wondering if I could find out the year my guitar was made. I just got it from e-bay. Its a Gold Series A200CE with serial number A00909. I'm pretty sure it's Irish made based on the serial # format. Also, I was wondering about the nut and saddle - if it's bone or tusq, and what the effect of that has on the tone.

Thanks!

Hi Mike,

Finished in Jan 05 it will have a Tusq saddle with either a Tusq or Bone nut, you should be able to see the difference between them if the nut is bone.

Bone gives a warmer more earthy tone ... Tusq is very hard and brings a brighter tone to the party.

Thank you so much JB. Agreed, very good welcome.

I am very pleased with my Avalon guitar, and especially that it's an Irish-made model. My mom has family in Dungannon, and I am proud that my Northern Irish heritage can now extend to my guitar playing!

I visited there 5 years ago, and it's one of my favorite places I've been. A beautiful guitar from a beautiful country!
