Avalon Silver Series

Postby Ross A » 07 Jul 2008, 09:49

I am looking at buying a 2nd guitar, but don't want to spend a fortune. I have owned a few Avalon Legacy guitars, how would a Silver Series Avalon compare soundwise?

The Silver range sound great, even more so when you consider the cost.

They have solid spruce and cedar soundboards and our AXX bracing pattern to help deliver as good a sound as possible for a production guitar with laminated back & sides.

Ok, they don't have the same full rich bass or treble response as our handmade range but as a 2nd or 3rd guitar it's hard to go wrong with one and they do have good sustain with a clean sound.

You could also do a few up low cost upgrades to tweak the sound too ... like replacing the plastic nut and saddle with bone.

The neck is slightly narrower being 43mm, our Legacy and Gold's are 44mm.

Hope this help Ross,
JB

It does help thanks JB. I think the narrower neck makes it a bit of a no no really.

I want something small bodied that's good for picking that has a spruce top. I've had my eye on the S10c you have listed on Ebay - but the wife would kill me!
