Shipping FYI

Postby mgrey » 20 Jun 2008, 14:57

If you are having a guitar shipped to the U.S., once it ships be on the look-out for a call from FEDEX. You'll have to fill-out a customs form and fax it to them before you can receive your instrument. If you're like me, your guitar can't get to you soon enough, so you want to get your customs issues taken care of to speed up the shipping process. They will hold your guitar until they receive the form (which will have to be faxed if you don't have a scanner).

I had a whole different experience. I received my D32 about a month ago. In the end, it was delivered by the US postal service. Yes, the guitar went through customs in NYC, but after that, it was just like getting package delivered. I was concerned about the possibility of a custom issue, ie having to pay an additional tax after getting hit with the currency exchange rate, and then another hit with the Visa exchange policy. I'm surprised that Fedex is going to be delivering it, maybe its because you are in a different part of the country. You might want to email JB and see how it goes. For me, it went through the Brit postage and then to the US postage.

It's actually already here. Everything went smoothly. It may just be luck of the draw. And JB sent me the FEDEX info, so I'll say if JB emails you that it was sent FEDEX, then be on the look-out for the call from FEDEX.
