Hmmm, I 'trying to send some pics of the D32e that is being made for me at Avalon. Jim was kind enough to send me some, and I thought I'd let other people see what goes into making one of these guitars. But, I cant figure out how to attach photos on this site. Any ideas?

You'll need to upload the pictures to the internet using something like photobucket or flickr. Then you can use the image tags to link to the picture.

That's right, I only figured it out yesterday. I opened an account with photobucket, upload my photos, and then you need to put the link to the pictures inbetween [img]picture%20url[/img].

The above line (minus the #'s) results in the photo below. Which by the way is my fantastic new Avalon A335 :D (just thought I'd slip that in there)

Thanks very much Son of Thunder! :D

It really is a superb guitar, sounds excellent, plays brilliantly, and looks superb. What more could you ask for? I had it made for me, with just a couple of changes (rosette, and headstock inlay) from the standard A335. Jim sent me pictures all the way through to keep me upto date, and even sent me some very professional looking photos the other day that he took when it was finished.

Here they are: -

It's nothing too fancy, it's just the A is made of blackwood rather than the usual. I wanted to keep a wood theme throughout. I mentioned using walnut (like the back, sides, rosette), but was told it might not contrast enough.

A couple of questions, if I may...

What wood was used for the top?

Who made that internal mic?

It really is a beautiful instrument! Congratulations! And thanks for the additional pics!

The top wood is Cedar, which gives a slighlty less crisp sound than spruce.

The mic is part of the K&K Western Trinity System, which is a internal condenser mic, bridgeplate transducers, and a dual channel preamp - which enables you to blend the mic and transducer to suit. It sounds excellent, but was a real pain to get the EQ right.

Thanks for the positive comments! :D And thanks again to everybody at Avalon.

Ah. I asked about the wood because I have cedar tops on both of my guitars (which were both made by the fine folks at Avalon - it's just that one of them was made while they were still with 'another guitar company'). The top of your guitar has similar grain, but the wood appears to be much darker.

Thanks for the reply!

That really is a beatiful instrument, and I'm sure it sounds every bit as good as it looks. Congratulations on a fine choice!
I am currently having a legacy 12string being built and can't wait to see the first pictures, let alone play it!!

Enjoy your guitar!!

Hey Brian, you'll have to keep us updated with photos of the 12 string. The waiting is hard, but it's definitely worth it!
