:D Just bought my first Avalon, a silver series DS100E. :D

I'm stoked with the tone which is way better than my all solid guitar from another well known brand.

Just a couple of questions to those in the know ! Is it worth changing the nut, saddle and bridge pins to bone ? And why is the Sitka spruce top so thick ? It appears twice as thick as my last guitar !

Thanks - Mike.

Hi Mike and welcome to the forums :)

The soundboard is not thicker ... look close and you'll see that the soundhole area has a second piece in there as a strengthener ... it only goes in as far as the cross struts

Changing the plastic nut and saddle to bone will give you a better tone.

Cheers

Thanks

Ill check into getting a new nut and saddle. You didn't mention the bridge pins. Is it also worth replacing these ? I haven't checked what's on the guitar.

Are these parts available from Avalon ?

Thanks again - Mike.
