Before I started looking at this forum a couple of weeks ago I'd never heard of Newtone strings, and until last night's post I'd never heard of the Kelly Speed Pick, so I might look into them both and see what they're all about. As far as thumbpicks go I've always gone for the slimmer, lighter ones anyway, and I have to cut them down quite a bit before I can use them. I use plastic fingerpicks too, both on guitar and banjo. I find I can pick faster with a lighter pick on my fingers than the metal picks most banjoists use.

Cheers,

Dave.

I have to agree that they are very good strings - but I would suggest that if you want extra lights, buy lights, if you want lights, buy medium, etc.

Also they generate (in my mind) more movement when they are plucked, so when playing 'fingerstyle' they seem to come back and hit your fingers - which can add some extra sounds you maybe were not looking for.

But for action and ease they are the best :)
