AVALON'S DO GET THE RESPECT

Postby MIKE 450 » 05 Mar 2008, 01:38

I don't work for Avalon or get paid for playing a Avalon, but I found the " why don't Avalons get the respect they deserve" a bit of an insult . I have played all the top pub's clubs here and in the US. CANADA ETC no desrespect to our good friend who asked the question "I don't fancy takein on Chargerbill he's name scare's me. But I feel I must remined everyone, most of all are younger player's Avalon are one of the best Acoustic Guitar's in the world, if you can't get it on with a Avalon forget it. THINK it's so easy for anyone to try and lead you away to some other well known guitar make. We here in Ireland, and all over are very lucky to have Avalon here in Newtownards. THINK again far away feilds always look greener. but I've been about this world and there not as green as they are in Ireland nor are we as green when it come's to making the best acoustic guitar's in the world thanks to Avalon, again I STRESS I don't work at Avalon Iv'e nothing to do with them I simply play a AS-201CE. I'M proud to be a freind of the great Tommy Emmanuel and our forum friend ROLAND KALUS to mention a few but if ask them about Avalon they will tell the same as me Avalon are one of the best guitar's in the world if you own one be happy now it's up to you let's hear ya play it man. THANKS AND BEST WISHES TO ALL THE BOYS AND GIRLS IN ARD'S WELL DONE AND I MEAN IT.

You make some very good points Mike but remember Chargerbill made the original post over 3 years ago when the "Avalon" name was not as high up on the "guitars to get" list for a lot of players.

Things have changed over the last 3 years ... we've put a lot of time and effort into extending our model range but not forgetting our traditional models.

Evidence of our hard work paid off with the guitar of the year award in Nov 07 :) still feels good sayin' that !

We've still a ways to go yet but we're getting there ....

Well said, Mike !

Most of my guitar-playing friends have heard of Avalon and its reputation as one of the top guitar makers in the world. So yes, by now they do have the respect they deserve.

People are always very interested when they get a chance to play or hear mine. Comments are always VERY positive : it plays so easily, and above all, it sounds so good, plugged in or unplugged.

The problem is that it is not easy to find one in a store, and for people who have only heard of Avalon but never played one, it is a big jump to buy one online from Avalon. So that may explain why you don't see them more often.
By the way, wasn't there going to be new website ? It would be nice to have more info, especially on the new models.

Cheers, Chris.

What a friend you are to have around John! Without going all soppy, it gave me a real lift to know that Avalon players, for the most part, are a caring, sharing kind of people - good on you John.

As for the thread, thanks Mike for your praise of Avalon's; the recognition is really beginning to take hold. Just in the past week, I got a call from Gerry McAvoy & Dennis Greaves of NineBelowZero to say they have released a new DVD featuring their Avalon's and we received a call from Tom Baxter's manager to alert me to a live acoustic session Tom did for RTE Radio 2 in Dublin - great set from one man & an Avalon. He told me that during sound check, the RTE engineer said it was the best sounding guitar he'd ever heard. To be sure!

This is all sounding so good!
My S201C (Gold) is on its way, and I am just chompin' at the bit to let my fingers dance some sound out of it!
Chris, I am in that group of not being able to have played any Avalons but one, (and, sorry boys, but the Sliver Asian series did nothing for me--although it had ancient strings on it), but I had plenty of players around this country sending me clips and I wasnt going to give up in searching for That Sound! This will also be the first cedar top I will have had time to really develop a relationship with.
When the honeymoon's over I will post my review.

p.s. yeah, good on you, John!

Hi John

Very appropriate choice for someone who lost his guitars in a house fire.
Great acoustic version.
Wait a minute think i smell burning!!!!
might have to be in touch for a guitar loan soon.
