hi, i have the used the stagepas 300 and it is a great idea, but the little pa/amp is pretty underpowered. And , the reverb is more like a slap back echo, not great for acoustic gtr. the little speakers are very good sounding, and the whole package is great. Small, light and sounds good. You will need to add tripod mounting hardware for the 300 speakers.
The 500 has more power and a much nicer reverb. I have used it as well, but with the smaller speakers.
I have used a Genz Benz shen 100 which is nice, but bigger.
Good luck.

Thanks JC I was thinking the 500 might be what Im after, the 300 is £320 I was wondering what you pay over there for the 300 and 500,I find it very hard to find a PA I like, I write and play my acoustic in an old disused swimming pool which was built in the Victorian time 1879 "I think".All the walls are covered in tiles the sound I get is awesome . I've played lot's of gigs with different PA's but like Eric Clapton once said," when you plugg into anything thats when the trouble begin's. Ive tried to get the boys here on the Forum to talk about this, getting a good sound can be tricky I've heard Tommy Emanuel complain about the same thing. I know everwhere you go to play is going to be a new ball game,I'd just love to hear from someone who could say I use a -----PA and it's fantastic, people who work in music store's will sell you anything I need a user review. Thanks again JC for the reply and feel free to check me out on myspace "check profile" I'll be putting new acoustic stuff on soon.

Hi, well its a never ending quest for a good sound. (the p/u has a lot to do with it too) Steel strings are easier than nylon.

THe 500 is quite a bit bigger w/10" speakers. I like the smaller speakers a lot, i heard of a new WHarfedale 8" speaker you might want to check out.
I really like the sound of the Yamaha, but i am using the 500 amp w/the small speaker. THe 500 goes for about $999 here. You may want to rent one for a gig and see what you think.
Yes, music stores will sell you anything, tho' a good one will know their stuff.
Good luck. I think smaller speakers sound better for acoustic guitar, tho; i do a lot of classical guitar.
my web site is www.juliancatford.com if you are interested.
