Buying an Avalon

Postby Cringer » 14 Jan 2005, 01:21

So how does it work? I want to buy myself an Avalon. Pretty sure of the body shape I want. I have potentially got some money to burn. (Will find this out for sure in the next few weeks) Can i order direct from the factory (I could collect the finished masterpiece myself as my parents live in Bangor)? If so how does one go about doing this? Or do I have to order through a dealer? Something I'd rather not do as I'd rather all my hard earned cash all went to Avalon and not partially to Dawsons.

Well not that well decided - am open to any suggestions. If I get the money I expect to be getting I'll be looking at investing up to around £2000 on the project. Any thoughts?  8) 8)

The guitar will be mainly used for strumming in a worship environment and volume unplugged is important as it may well be used this way a lot.

Save up your pennies - come over to your parents in Bangor - phone the factory to see if anyones in - go to the factory, play a few, pick one and hand over the dosh!!

I got my Lowden direct from the factory many moons ago.

Last time I was in the factory they only had a D200C in...

Was thinking tentatively about the A200CE...

Cringer, wouldn't 2000£ get you into Legacy range? I know where there's a Legacy cutaway with electronis that the guy said was a Lowden replica in excellent condition for $1,800 US I believe...would save you some cash for sure.

I bought my A200CE from him for $900...brand new. He also has an an A201CE for $1,200 US.

We shall see - the reason I've gone for the A200CE tentatively is that I've played one at Dawsons.

Hi Cringer. Did you get sorted with a seasoned D200 CE yet? If so, can you let me know how you got on? Cheers. Dee. deemacnic@btinternet.com
